José Suarez
Partner
José Suarez is a partner at Walker Digital, advising the company’s management on deals and opportunities in an “investment banking” capacity.
Previously, José served for many years as President & COO of Walker Digital, where he managed the creation of a portfolio of more than 1,000 issued and pending U.S. and international patents across a broad range of industries. During his tenure, he brought many of these innovations to market through licenses and strategic partnerships generating more than $250 million in royalties and investments from industry leaders.
José is also Walker Digital’s partner in two standalone companies, TEDMED and yappr.com. He heads both companies as CEO.
TEDMED is an annual summit that promotes medical innovation, bringing together highly accomplished thinkers, innovators, and achievers in technology and medicine to explore new ways of thinking about healthcare problems and issues.
Yappr.com, which José co-founded, is a free educational website where learning is self-directed, social and fun. Millions of users worldwide first used yappr to learn, study, and teach English and now are using it to learn a wide variety of subjects.
José is also CEO & founder of Suarez & Associates LLC, which advises and makes investments in businesses and industries ranging from advertising to biosynthetic technology.
José has started, operated and sold numerous businesses, including an electronic payment processing company and manufacturing plants employing thousands of people throughout Central America. A former real estate developer, José began his professional career at GE, where he created computer simulation models of manufacturing processes and entire factories.
